What is Hypnosis? During a series of guided relaxations, you will be verbally lead into an increased state of deep relaxation. This is typically called a hypnotic state. A person may be more likely to accept suggestions in this relaxed state. These suggestions are discussed and agreed on before the session. A person goes into hypnotic states throughout their day naturally. Have you ever driven miles and realized you don't remember the trip? Have you ever watched television? The state that you go in to just before sleeping is similar to hypnosis.
Is Hypnosis safe? I am a certified Hypnotist with the National Guild of Hypnotists and the Dolores Cannon Institute. As a complementary alternative wellness practice, Hypnosis can add dimension to your life.
The hypnotist's goal is not to control a person or give the person answers but rather to connect the person with their own "inner knowing." You cannot be hypnotized to follow directions against your wishes. You are in control!
Talk with your doctor about any complementary wellness practice that you would like to try or are already using. Your doctor can help you manage your health better if he or she knows about all of your wellness practices.
Will One Session Change a Bad Habit or they way I think? Hypnosis is not magic. It is a tool assisting an individual in eliminating a bad habit or accomplishing a goal. Depending on the individual, normally 10 sessions facilitates a positive change. Just remember, it cannot be expected that one session will overcome a habit....years in development, although, it does happen.
